For 3 weeks in July/August 2014 Phil Jahans (https://deepwaterdeliveries.com/) delivered my 30 year old (but new-to-me) 45 foot aluminium Garcia sailboat from Marseilles, France to Kent, England, via Gibraltar.
The delivery was an owner assisted passage, so I was present through the whole delivery, and we shared the responsibility of ensuring that the boat reached the destination.
During the trip I found Phil to be a knowledgeable, reliable and agreeable skipper. When we encountered difficulties during the trip (contaminated fuel from the previous owner’s time, a torn genoa) Phil offered well considered advice and strategies for addressing these issues which simultaneously respected the timeframe to which we were sailing and the budget to which I had available. He was an amiable sailing companion who did not have any problem with getting his hands dirty or taking the late night watch.
If I again require a delivery skipper I will be contacting Phil, and I can recommend him without reservation to any other yacht owner seeking a deliver skipper.

Mr PHILLIP HAY-JAHANS delivered my yacht “Blue Moon II” from Fremantle Western Australia to Port Huon Tasmania in October / November 2012.
The vessel was delivered safely, on-time and in a good and clean condition. At all times where possible, Phil kept me informed on the progress and other general matters relating to the voyage. He attended to minor repairs en-route when the need arose and maintained the vessel “Bristol Fashion”.
The route was some 2,500 nm skirting the northern edge of the Southern Ocean and then Bass Strait from 32S,115E to 43S,147E.
I can highly recommend Phil as a Delivery Skipper as I found him to be very experienced, highly competent, reliable and trustworthy.

I am the owner of the boat Elsie which Phil delivered in June/July 2016 from St Martin to E. Spain.
I want to give him a big thanks for a perfect delivery. My brother’s comment when he picked up the boat in Spain was: she never looked so good. Not really a good comment on my qualities as an owner I’m afraid.
Last January I realized there was not enough time to sail the boat back myself so a delivery captain would be the best solution. The perfect one would do it with care and without pushing the boat to hard. Phil came up first in my mind and it has worked out wonderfully. Apart from the delivery which was not easy he was also the best man to have around for the preparations. For example when motoring through the Simpson Bay Lagoon and the hydraulics overheated and a hose burst. It took three days, a really big Aussie guy named Jim and three snap on 1/2″ ratchets to unscrew 2 bolts on the PTO coupling. Phil stayed really relaxed and not once did I felt pushed as a fixed date of departure was not there. During the nights we went for a couple of beers with his lovely lady Lena and we had fun off the beaten track.
The boat is a lovely motorsailer but can be a handful sometimes with old electronics, bypasses of some systems and other stuff. Phil has handled this very well with text communication via yellowbrick. I will not hesitate to call him if I ever need a delivery captain again.
